How much do you know yourself? Or How do you define yourself?
Your Physical body today is the reflection of your personal standards. A person who thinks about himself/herself as a healthy person will make exercise, eating healthy the first priority. A person who believes he makes certain amount of money will find the way to do it.Same applies for relationships, career, you always find a way to maintain your standards (If you believe you are a vegetarian then you will maintain this identity by not eating non-veg foods).
For growing up raising those standards is another aspect. If you want to be a successful person and currently if you don't have that habits then you must raise your standards (change habits) or else it isn't happening.
A successful person thinks, believes he is successful, a top level athlete believes he is the best (Example- CR7). They work, do things by maintaining their standards.
I was a shy person before not being able to talk with anyone. During that time my identity was "I am a shy person" yet in order to achieve my dreams changing this identity was important so I raised my identity and started thinking about myself as a public speaker. I started doing visualization, affirmations, other actions which helped me become the person I am today.
To Change standards you must first know who you are, you can make chart like below. It will help you gain clarity about yourself, your strengths, weaknesses, dreams, thinking, goals.
